Engagement Guide

Your engagement shoot is a wonderful chance to express yourselves in a fun, romantic and adventurous way. Jessica Abby is down to earth, creating a relaxed environment for you to feel comfortable. The session is designed to provide you with stylish, honest imagery reflecting your wonderful relationship.

Location

An engagement session can be absolutely anywhere. Your own backyard, a local park or roof top or somewhere totally out of the ordinary like a train station or restaurant.

The location can reflect your personalities - funky and cool, elegant and sophisticated or modern and minimalistic? Maybe you want to return to the location of your first date or to a place that has special meaning to you as a couple. I also have many places I would love to shoot at if you are finding it hard to choose a location.

Let me know your ideas and we will work together to decide on the location that is right for your engagement session. After we have pinned down the photo shoot location it's time for the fun part of choosing outfits.

Outfit

Choose an outfit that shows off your personality. Most importantly you should wear something you feel comfortable in so you will be relaxed during the photo shoot. Some fabrics photograph really well like sequins and materials that flow beautifully in the wind or with movement like a long flowy dress.

With all these options, you might be thinking of having 2 outfits. It's absolutely fine as long as we factor in the time needed doing an outfit change in the car. You could go for a casual outfit first, then move onto something a little more dramatic or luxurious.

If you want to keep to one outfit it's also perfect. You can wear a chic jacket that can be removed, bring along some flowers to alter the look of the shoot quickly and easily. Don’t forget to bring flat shoes as we may do a bit of walking to get to the perfect place - always worth the effort. This can be a perfect time to utilise your wedding make up trial if you can coordinate them both. That way you can see what your make up looks like in photos prior to your special day

FAQ

Many clients ask if a friend can come along to help and the answer is yes. It's awesome to have some help during the shoot if you have bags to be carried so you can be totally at ease while we are taking epic photos. Another common question I am asked is if multiply locations are possible. I'm open to extending the engagement shoot to include locations as long as we maximize the beautiful sunset time that has the best light of the day.

Many of my wedding clients book an engagement session as part of their photography package. I love this as we get time to know each other and I can show you that there is no need for nerves. Shoots are relaxed and natural and clients, especially the grooms, often comment on how its way more fun than they expected.

Finally an engagement shoot is a beautiful gift to give a newly engaged couple. If you are looking for that perfect gift for your best friends who are planning their wedding there is nothing more perfect.
